For the second programme in our 2024 Recital Series, we were joined by guest artist, Mark Walton.

Mark is a highly-respected and popular figure in the Australian and New Zealand musical scene and widely acknowledged as a virtuoso clarinet and saxophone performer, inspiring teacher and charismatic musician.

​

The programme had a strong jazz influence, including the music of Irving Berlin and George Gershwin arranged for the trio by Wendy’s father, Hugh Dixon. 

 

Wendy sang some of the cabaret songs of Friedrich Hollaendar, who achieved world-wide fame in 1929 for composing “Falling in Love Again” for Marlene Dietrich in the iconic movie “Blue Angels”.

We also performed classical trios by Schubert and Lachner, and a Bach trio sonata in an arrangement for piano and saxophone.
