For our first concerts in our 2024 Recital Series our esteemed guest artist will be with the renowned flautist, James Kortum.

The program will commence with two beautiful arias by Bach for soprano with flute obbligato - one from the Peasant Cantata and the other from the Easter Oratorio. It will end with the obligatory duet for soprano and flute, Lo! here the Gentle Lark, by Henry Bishop.

​

An exciting new discovery is a short three-song cycle by the young English composer, Joanathan Slade. His music responds with great sensitivity to texts from French, Italian and German poets. The program will also contain music by Arnold Cooke, Jean-Philippe Rameau and the veteran Australian composer, May Howlett.
